Lunch With Young Alumni

About

Lunch With Young Alumni gives Melbourne School of Design students the chance to meet a young alumni (mentor) who studied their discipline and share similar career interests. Students are grouped with 1 or 2 peers and a young alumni for a 1 hour informal meeting over zoom or in person. Students can ask for advice on their career path, suggestions on navigating the industry, tips for finding their first job and more! This is a fantastic and relaxed way to network with young professionals in the industry.

With the pandemic lockdown still in place, Lunch With Young Alumni meetings were held online again this year. In groups of 3 students and 1 professional, these lunches provided students with the opportunity to learn more about where their degree may lead them and grow their network within the industry.
A huge thank you to the more than 100 industry mentors who shared their time and expertise with UniMelb School of Design students.

This event was run in collaboration with the Melbourne School of Design.

For Lunch With Young Alumni this year, students had the opportunity to virtually network with a University of Melbourne young alumna or alumnus. Groups of three students were connected with one young professional based on their field of interests and were able to ask anything about the industry, gain career advice and to grow their network.

As the meeting was held through a virtual platform, young alumni from all around Australia and the world were able to participate, providing students with a broad range of experiences and insights into the industry.

This event was run in collaboration with the Alumni Engagement Team at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning.

Students often don’t have the confidence or the resources to approach industry professionals to ask for study and career advice.

Lunch With A Young Professional connected students with recently graduated young professionals to provide students with relevant career advice.
